There has been a revolution in baby care. Arms are starting to replace incubators. Human touch is starting to replace machines. And doctors are placing more importance on hugging than ever before. Hugs and human touch, they insist, are vital to a baby's well-being, affecting healthy development and even who our children become later in life.
Of course, moms and dads have been instinctively hugging their babies since the beginning of time. And medical studies on the effects of human touch are proving what they’ve always known. Hugs are important. That’s why Huggies® Brand created the world's first Hug Plan.
What is skin-to-skin hugging?
Skin-to-skin, or Kangaroo Care, is the practice of hugging and holding your newborn, clad only in a diaper, against your bare chest. In the hours, days and weeks after birth, it is one of the most valuable gifts you can give your child. Some hospitals even provide special chairs and body wraps, to help moms and dads provide skin-to-skin comfortably, for hours at a time.
